Application of fertilizer
JP RENLIS granulated organic fertilizer is made from beef cattle manure compost, which is produced using the unique composting technology developed by the scientists of the centre of Agro-ecology of Aleksandras Stulginskis University. Compost is very humified and is therefore suitable as a raw material for the production of other bulk, granular and liquid organic fertilizers.

Granular organic compost fertilizers of 4 and 6 mm in diameter and of approximately equal length are produced. Binders are not used for granulating. This technology differs from other organic and organic fertilizer production technologies because it helps to produce granular fertilizers of the same length and without binders. As a result, granular fertilizers can be applied locally together with the plant seeds when sowing or planting. This is the new organic fertilizer spreading technology. Organic fertilizer granules are strong and stable and can be stored for a long period. These granular fertilizers are suitable for mechanical spreading of fertilizers using disc fertilizer spreaders. Prior to spreading with disc fertilizer spreaders, the desired rate has to be determined. Regulatory instructions for mineral fertilizer application rates are inappropriate.

Fertilizers may be used in organic production in accordance with the requirements of Council Regulation (EC) No 834/2007 and Commission Regulation (EC) No 889/2008.

Application of granulated fertilizers Granular fertilizers can be applied in autumn or spring before sowing or planting. When fertilizing in autumn, the amount of nutrients, which the plants easily absorb, significantly increases in the soil in spring. This application is recommended for plants in soil that has a heavier granulometric texture. It is better to fertilize plants before sowing or planting in soils that have a lighter granulometric texture (sandy loam, loam with a light granulometric texture), this will therefore avoid leaching of nutrients into the deeper layers.

Granulated fertilizers may be used for field, garden, orchard, and greenhouse plants, ornamental trees and shrubs, balcony and potted plants. These fertilizers are rich in macro elements (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, sulphur and sodium), microelements (zinc, boron, copper, molybdenum and cobalt), and ultra-micro elements such as iodine and selenium and other.

There is no need to spray the plant leaves additionally with microelement fertilizers.

Using granulated fertilizers: It is recommended to spray crops during the growing season and water them with liquid organic fertilizers to increase crop yields. Granulated organic compost fertilizers have a long-term effect on plants and soil; this depends on the rate of fertilizer. The effect on the soil lasts for at least three years when rates are higher than 0,4 l/m2. The effect decreases to 1-2 years at lower rates of fertilization.

Application of granulated compost fertilizers restores degraded soils and improves the physical and chemical properties of soil. Due to the high degree of humification of compost, the amount of humus in the soil may be restored gradually. If the amount of humus in the soil is less than 1.5 percent, mobile phosphorus and potassium less than 100 mg kg-1, the amount of humus, phosphorus and potassium in the soil will increase within a few years after continuous fertilization with granular fertilizers. The annual rate of fertilizers should be not less than 0,4 l/m2.

Granulated fertilizers can be used for vegetables grown in greenhouses such as cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers, etc. by adding fertilizers before planting, directly to the soil, or during planting and the growing season. Plants can be fertilized several times during the growing season. The effect will be greater if the leaves of plants are additionally sprayed with liquid organic fertilizers.

Fertilizers are suitable for potted flowers. After spreading fertilizers on a substrate of the plants, the plants should be watered. When the flowers are watered, the granules dissolve and growing flowers absorb the nutrients dissolved in the water.

In large areas of agricultural plants, the best way to apply granular fertilizers is together with the seed. The aim of the scientists of the Centre of Agro-ecology of Aleksandras Stulginskis University in developing these fertilizers was to use granular fertilizers locally. When 4 mm diameter granules are applied locally with Väderstad Rapid 300 C Super XL Seed Drill, the maximum possible rate is up to 1030 kg of fertilizer, when 6 mm granules are used – 757 kg.

It is recommended to apply the maximum rate of fertilizes, or the maximum rate can be reduced by half, but not less. This is suitable for all perennial cereals and winter and spring rape.

The maximum rate should be reduced by half for grain cereals. Regular use of this technology will stop the soil biodegradation processes and restore the amount of humus in the soil and the soil structure, and improve the physical properties of the soil.

The maximum rate or half the rate of granular fertilizers should be used locally when growing potatoes. The rate depends on the desired yield of potato.

When using granular fertilizers locally, it is recommended to spray agricultural crops several times with liquid organic fertilizers or biological agents during their growing season (organic agriculture) or with other liquid mineral, organic or organic mineral fertilizers (intensive farming and farming in accordance with the requirements of the national quality system for agricultural products).
